On April 13th, various positions and tweets were shared by political and spiritual figures who all echoed the sentiment, "We remember, but it should not be repeated." The Grand Mufti of Lebanon, Abdul Latif Derian, recalled the date, stating, "We should no longer mourn the past or get distracted by trivial matters and the rights of one group or another. What is important are the rights of all Lebanese for equality, justice, and fairness, and to restore Lebanon to its natural and civil role in this region. Lebanese people have had enough of political games, narrow interests, and popular divisions from here and there." He called on all political forces in Lebanon to "make a decisive decision and work as quickly as possible to elect a President of the Lebanese Republic, and to form a new government that prioritizes Lebanon's interests, continuously working to save what remains of the state and its institutions and striving to put an end to the ongoing crises faced by Lebanese citizens." Before departing for Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah, he expressed full confidence in the Saudi leadership, including the King, Crown Prince, and government, as well as the Arab brothers in general, and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries in particular, stating they are the most vigilant regarding Arab and Islamic issues and most willing to address crises wisely and decisively in the interests of Saudi Arabia and all Arab brothers, especially Palestine and its people, and Al-Aqsa Mosque, which suffers under oppression and aggression visible to decision-makers in the international community.
Samir Geagea, President of the Lebanese Forces Party, commemorated the date by posting a picture of a fighter from the "Lebanese Resistance" with the caption: "We did not desire war..."
In a tweet, former Prime Minister Saad Hariri reflected, "April 13th, a date that always reminds us of the curse on those who start civil wars and mercy for those who end them."
Jibran Bassil, leader of the Free Patriotic Movement, noted in a speech after a memorial mass for generations of the Lebanese resistance that "the international conspiracy is what funds the continued presence of Syrian refugees in Lebanon, and the real resistance is what we conduct to prevent the same tragedy from recurring and to avoid the crisis we experienced with the Palestinians, which is prevented by the popular Lebanese consensus on their return." He added, "No one calls for violence or racism or harm; everyone calls for a dignified and safe return of the refugees, and if the popular consensus on this issue had been translated into a political consensus, the refugee crisis would have been resolved." He further stated, "The non-Lebanese weapons in the past made our land vulnerable and then attempted to impose control over the Lebanese decision, but we later saw a Lebanese will develop until there was resistance capable of liberating the land, as occurred in 2000 and during the 2006 aggression, leading to stability and calm in the South."
