White House: Israel Did Not Coordinate With Us on Hodeidah Strikes

The spokesperson for the National Security Council at the White House, John Kirby, announced on Saturday that the United States did not participate in the Israeli strikes on Houthi targets in the port city of Hodeidah, Yemen. This statement followed the Israeli military's earlier confirmation that its fighter jets had attacked military targets of the Houthis in Yemen.

The Israeli military stated in a statement that Israeli aircraft bombed military targets of the Houthis in the Hodeidah port area in response to "hundreds of attacks that have targeted Israel in recent months." Israeli army spokesperson Daniel Hagari noted in a televised statement that the port attacked by Israeli aircraft is used as "a main supply route for delivering Iranian weapons from Iran to Yemen, beginning with the drone used in the attack on Friday morning" in Tel Aviv. He also confirmed that the strikes on Saturday "were carried out by the Israeli army alone," adding that Israel had "informed its friends" about it.

In contrast, Houthi political bureau member Mohammed al-Bukhaiti announced via the "X" platform that Israel "will pay the price" for its strikes in Yemen. The airstrikes came a day after the Houthis claimed responsibility for a drone attack on Friday morning that resulted in one death in Tel Aviv, amid the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
