The UAE announced today, Friday, that it has referred "a criminal gang consisting of more than one hundred individuals to trial, accused of committing crimes that threaten state security." The Emirates News Agency reported that "the Attorney General, Counsel Hamad Saif Al Shamsi, has ordered the referral of the organized criminal gang to trial before the State Security Circuit of the Federal Appeals Court in Abu Dhabi for committing crimes that jeopardize state security, public order, and societal peace." It added that investigations revealed "the involvement of more than one hundred suspects in forming, managing, and joining a criminal gang they called the 'Bahlool Gang,' which aims to engage in illegal activities, collect illicit funds, and share the proceeds among themselves... while concealing and disguising the sources of the illicit gains resulting from these crimes through money laundering."
