Bishops: I Don't Understand the Reason for the Absence of a President Until Today

Maronite Patriarch Bechara Al-Rai pointed out that Patriarch Estephan Doueihi serves as a model for everyone and teaches us a great deal, especially today, as the world needs faith, religion, and a return to God. He emphasized that we must live our Christian faith through practice and commitment to the greater cause and the common good. In a television statement, Al-Rai said, "I still do not understand why they have not elected a president for the republic, and where is the constitutional commitment in the practices of the Parliament and the Council of Ministers regarding Christian partnership? We are a democratic country, and when we agree on a president, we allow for criticism and veto against individuals. This is different from not electing a president. I am concerned about constitutional institutions. Why do you link Lebanon with all other issues such as the Gaza war and the American presidential election? I consider this a manipulation of the country's fate."
