Minister of Finance in the caretaker government, يوسف الخليل, reiterated the ministry's commitment to presenting the 2025 budget on time as stipulated by the constitution. During an administrative evaluation meeting regarding the stages of the budget preparation process, in light of the meeting held with the economic officials of the international donor entities, he emphasized the importance of maintaining financial and monetary stability while also enhancing productivity in social spending to make it more effective, considering it a fundamental pillar in strengthening social services for citizens given the current funding availability and the absence of any other sources.
الخليل focused on the need to develop and improve the process of preparing budgets for ministries, particularly for the ministries of health, education and higher education, and social affairs, insisting that these budgets must reflect a strategic and reform-oriented perspective for various sectors, while considering the recommendations proposed by technical missions.
Participants from donor entities also discussed the expected share of social spending, expressing the tendencies of the entities they represent, along with the international community, in supporting Lebanon in the upcoming phase. They noted that "this support will be regulated in terms of social sectors," pointing out that "the support they will provide under the current circumstances will be directed more towards the security sector."
