A doctor claimed that most people eat kiwi incorrectly, leading to a loss of 50% of the essential fiber in the fruit. Dr. Joseph Slehab, known as the "stomach doctor," said, "If you eat a kiwi with the skin, you get 50% more fiber and some extra vitamins and nutrients."
He explained in a video on TikTok that one should "wash the kiwi well to remove the tiny hairs" and also recommends consuming it when it is "soft" so it is "easier to eat." Acknowledging that some may find it "a bit strange," Slehab suggested cutting the kiwi into discs, adding: "Kiwi is beneficial for gut health; it contains a ton of vitamin C, allows good bacteria to grow, and helps prevent constipation."
However, his controversial suggestion did not please everyone, regardless of the health benefits. One follower commented, "I can't, the skin scares me." Meanwhile, some people cannot do this for allergy-related reasons.
The kiwi skin is said to be great for both external appearance and internal health, as it is high in vitamin E, which is used in cosmetics. It is claimed to have an anti-aging effect on your skin and can help you maintain a healthy glow.
