French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal arrived at President Emmanuel Macron's office today, Monday, to submit his resignation following the parliamentary elections in which the government’s political camp lost its status as the strongest coalition in the country to the left in a hung parliament. It is still unclear whether Macron will accept the resignation or reject it. Attal had already indicated that he would "take this step yesterday, Sunday, in keeping with French political traditions," stating that he is "ready to remain in his position longer as a caretaker, but it is up to the president to decide." Macron decided today, Monday, to keep Gabriel Attal in his position after the parliamentary elections that saw the government’s political camp lose its status as the strongest coalition to the left. Macron’s office stated: "The president has asked Gabriel to remain in his position for the time being to ensure the stability of the country."
