Army Commander on Liberation Day: Stability in Lebanon and Border Control Are Our Priorities

Army Commander Major General Joseph Aoun issued a directive to military personnel on the occasion of Resistance and Liberation Day, stating: "Resistance and Liberation Day brings with it meanings of dignity and resilience. It is a day when we proudly remember the historic victory achieved by the Lebanese against the Israeli enemy, liberating most of the occupied territories in the south and returning them to the embrace of the homeland, establishing a long journey of struggle and steadfastness, and writing a bright page in Lebanon's history, providing a rare example for other nations to follow." He emphasized, "Your steadfastness and determination to fulfill your duty toward the homeland is a source of pride and hope, as you safeguard Lebanon from its enemies, particularly the Israeli enemy and terrorism, maintaining security while demonstrating the utmost professionalism, dedication, vigilance, and total commitment to ethical values and the protection of human rights while carrying out your missions. The Lebanese have recognized, especially over the past years, your willpower, commitment to your oath, and loyalty to the blood of martyrs and the wounded, despite difficult circumstances and the magnitude of responsibility."

He highlighted "our ongoing duties, particularly on the southern borders, in coordination with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon in accordance with resolution 1701 and its provisions," stressing "resistance against the Israeli enemy and its ambitions and violations of Lebanese sovereignty, and the retrieval of all our lands." The Army Commander noted that "preserving Lebanon's security and stability, defending it, and controlling its borders remains the absolute priority for the military establishment. This stability is a fundamental condition for the revival of the economy and the functioning of institutions, which would not have been achieved or sustained without the sacrifices you make, and it is an achievement renewed daily with every mission you undertake, and with every drop of blood you shed for your country, reinforced by the trust of the Lebanese people and the international community in you." He concluded by saying: "Act according to what your oath, duty, and the higher national interest dictate, for with your steadfastness and faith, our homeland overcomes all challenges."
