The Director of the FBI, Christopher Wray, expressed doubts about whether former President and Republican candidate Donald Trump was actually shot during an assassination attempt at a political rally in Pennsylvania. Wray made his remarks while informing Congress about the assassination attempt on Trump in Butler City, on Wednesday, when he issued an "explosive statement." Wray stated, "Regarding former President Trump, there are some questions about whether a bullet struck his ear or if it was a fragment." He added, "I don't know right now if that bullet, in addition to causing contact with Trump's ear, fell somewhere else," indicating that authorities have not found the bullet that was supposedly responsible for hitting Trump's ear. While Wray did not question the occurrence of the incident or the assassination attempt, he showed a lack of complete knowledge and raised questions about the specifics of Trump's injury from a bullet aimed at his head. Wray was discussing security failures that allowed the shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks, to open fire. Crooks, 20 years old, killed firefighter Cory Comberatori, 50, and injured two others, including Trump, during the shooting. Since then, Trump has provided accounts of the moment he was shot and has been seen with a bandage on his ear.
