U.S. Special Forces for Emergency Military Operations Arrive in Kirkuk

A senior Kurdish source revealed today, Sunday, that a U.S. force consisting of officers and soldiers has arrived in the city of Kirkuk, noting that this force specializes in intervention during emergency military operations. The source indicated that a special American force comprised of 60 personnel (officers and soldiers) arrived late yesterday at K1 base in Kirkuk, and mentioned that this force will cooperate with Iraqi Counter Terrorism Forces and the Counter Terrorism Forces in the Kurdistan Region to conduct military operations against ISIS movements in the Hawija area and surrounding mountains. The source added that the mentioned U.S. force specializes in intervening in emergency military operations and will remain at K1 base until ISIS movements in the mentioned areas are controlled. Furthermore, the source stated that a joint military operations room will be established between the American force, the Iraqi Counter Terrorism Service, and the Kurdish Counter Terrorism Service, with nine Kurdish officers present in the said operations room.
