On December 11, 2023, the General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division issued the following statement: "A Syrian individual (B. N., born in 1985) was brought to a hospital in the Nabatieh area, suffering from head injuries, and soon after succumbed to his wounds. Consequently, the relevant units of the Internal Security Forces were tasked with conducting field and investigative procedures to uncover the circumstances of the incident and identify the perpetrator.
As a result of extensive investigations and inquiries, the information branch succeeded within hours in identifying the suspect responsible for the murder, identified as: F. L. (born in 1985, Syrian). On December 12, 2023, after a careful observation and monitoring operation, one of the division's patrols arrested him in the town of Zoutar, in the Nabatieh district.
During the interrogation, he confessed to the allegations against him, admitting that he had struck the victim on the head while he was sleeping with a wooden stick due to a previous romantic relationship with the victim's wife, which had led to intense conflicts between them. The necessary legal proceedings were carried out against him, and he was placed in the custody of the relevant authority based on judicial instructions."
