The United Arab Emirates will commemorate "Martyrs' Day" tomorrow, Thursday, as a tribute to the nation's martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the fields of honor while carrying out their national duties both domestically and abroad, according to the Emirates News Agency (WAM). On this occasion, UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan stated today, Wednesday: "Every year, the 30th of November comes carrying a precious memory for the sons of the nation who demonstrated the authenticity of their character and the sincerity of their covenant with God and the homeland; this is the memory of Martyrs' Day." He emphasized that "this glorious day in the history of our precious homeland is when we commemorate our martyrs throughout history, and with pride, gratitude, and appreciation, we remember their sacrifices and heroism, recounting them to our children and grandchildren to ensure they remain present in their minds and hearts, drawing from them the highest meanings of love for the homeland, loyalty to it, and the willingness to sacrifice for it and answer its call at all times and in all places."
He added: "The noble martyrs have offered their pure souls to defend the UAE, its people, its values, and its sovereignty. It is our duty to honor their names and memories and remain faithful to the values and meanings they embody by doubling our efforts to keep the flag of our nation high in the sky, as the martyrs wanted, and for which their pure blood was shed in defense of it." He stressed that "the sacrifices made by our brave martyrs for the sake of the homeland will remain a source of inspiration for generations upon generations, and medals of honor and pride on the chest of every Emirati, now and forever."
He continued: "On this glorious day of our nation's history, we express our sincerest feelings of thanks and appreciation to the families of the martyrs and their loved ones. We value their sacrifices and love for their homeland and affirm that their care will always remain a priority for us because what their sons have given to the nation has left us with a debt we strive to repay as long as we live." He considered that "today, as we commemorate the heroic martyrs, we affirm that they sacrificed their souls defending the truth and supporting security, stability, and peace. The UAE has been and will continue to be an advocate for peace and cooperation because it believes that this is the path to achieve the interests of peoples worldwide and respond to their aspirations for development and prosperity."
He concluded: "May God have mercy on the noble martyrs in the highest heavens, and may he protect the UAE and its people, granting them and the entire region and world peace and stability."
