Israeli Channel 12 revealed today, Sunday, the location of the reserve soldier from the Israeli army suspected of participating in the rebellion video, noting that he is awaiting interrogation. Channel 12 indicated that military police have identified the reserve soldier who appeared in the "rebellion video" and mentioned that he is expected to be investigated.
The son of Prime Minister Yair Netanyahu had previously posted on social media a video of a masked Israeli soldier that circulated yesterday, Saturday, on social media, supposedly filmed somewhere in the Gaza Strip, in which he called for a "revolution against Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi and Security Minister Yoav Galant," although he later deleted the video.
In the video shared on Telegram, the soldier stated, "We will listen only to the Prime Minister." He added, "Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, this video is for you. We reserve soldiers do not intend to hand over the keys to any Palestinian authority. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity... you have 100,000 warriors ready to sacrifice their lives, and we have nowhere to go; we have lost our families and livelihoods. We will stay here until the end, until victory. Yoav Galant, you cannot win the war; let us listen to one leader."
Netanyahu condemned the video in a statement from his office hours after it was released, without addressing the fact that his son shared it: "The Prime Minister has warned repeatedly about the dangers of the phenomenon of refusal and leniency." A senior source stated that "Yair Netanyahu's sharing of the video constitutes a clear call for rebellion against the command of the Israeli army."
Regarding the delay in publishing a condemnation from Netanyahu's office, the same source said, "The Prime Minister's lengthy silence supports the dangerous act." Minutes after the Prime Minister's announcement, Minister Benny Gantz issued a statement condemning the video and criticized Netanyahu's condemnation as hiding behind "laundering words."
Gantz added, "In the Israeli army, as in the nation, there are soldiers from all segments of Israeli society, with a variety of views and beliefs, but there is only one high command: the Chief of Staff. Expressing support for a call to rebellion during wartime, as seen in yesterday's video, endangers Israel's security."
He also called on the Prime Minister to condemn the incitement video sharply and clearly and not to hide behind "laundering words."
Opposition leader Yair Lapid stated that "the inciting videos circulating online over the past day are dangerous and catastrophic, whether real or fabricated to incite riots. The fact that Netanyahu's machinery and horns enthusiastically echo videos calling for civil war and disbandment of the army is another attempt to evade responsibility for the greatest disaster in Jewish history since the Holocaust. This madness must be stopped; it must be removed from our lives before it destroys everything that is real and sacred in this country."
The Israeli army announced that "the documented behavior in the video constitutes a serious violation of Israeli army orders and values, and raises suspicion of committing criminal offenses." Regarding the incident, the head of the military prosecution ordered a military police investigation to be opened.
