Lebanon was represented by athlete Leticia Aoun (under 57 kg) at the Taekwondo Grand Prix in Rome, Italy, under the supervision of national teams director and grandmaster coach Ralph Harb. Aoun successfully won her first match against a Greek competitor before losing to British champion Jade Jones, after being a strong contender against her opponent. Jones has an impressive background, having won a gold medal at the London Olympics (2012) and the Rio de Janeiro Olympics (2016). She also secured the world championship title in 2019 and European championship titles in 2016, 2018, and 2021.
Leticia Aoun, born on April 14, 2001, has a bright future ahead of her and has won numerous colored medals both locally and internationally throughout her career, including a bronze medal at the 2018 Asian Games held in Jakarta, Indonesia. She also earned a bronze medal at the Islamic Solidarity Games held last year in Turkey, along with many medals in various international tournaments hosted in Lebanon in recent years. Aoun is considered one of the top 32 players in the world.
