The Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy in Kuwait announced the disconnection of electricity in parts of several residential areas within an hour of the announcement to maintain the stability of the electrical system in the country. In a press release today, Sunday, the ministry stated that "the areas that will experience power cuts in parts of them include Al-Rabiah, Saad Al-Abdallah, Al-Fahaheel, Al-Raqi, Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, Al-Rihab, Abu Halifa, Al-Fintas, and Sabah Al-Ahmad Sea City."
Earlier today, the ministry urged everyone to rationalize electricity consumption during peak hours from 11 AM to 5 PM by following its guidelines, noting that any new updates regarding the electric network status would be announced. The ministry attributed the cuts to a malfunction that occurred yesterday in fuel (gas) supplies, which led to the shutdown of several electricity generation units at the Subiya and West Doha power and water desalination plants.
