The Director-General of Internal Security Forces, Major General Imad Osman, addressed the members of the Internal Security Forces, stating: "It is no secret that many are trying to confront the state by attacking its institutions. On every occasion, I remind you to fortify yourselves with your patriotism and belonging. Those who wish us harm are betting on chaos and disruption of security, especially in the face of the difficult challenges that await us all, which is something we will never compromise on."
On the occasion of the 162nd anniversary of the Internal Security Forces, Osman issued a general order, affirming that "the Internal Security Forces are well aware of their role, especially in the current time that Lebanon is experiencing, amid the economic and financial crisis, the devaluation of the national currency, and the state’s inability to stop the repercussions of this crisis that accompany the ongoing political crises with every challenge." He said: "O heroes, I address you specifically at this sensitive time to remain true to your oath and to assure the people that you are their best reliance in maintaining security and order, based on the trust they place in you. They are now certain that you are at the forefront of confronting terrorism and pursuing wanted individuals. You are the ones who ensure their security on the streets day and night, with your vigilant eyes watching over them and their children wherever they are. Although you are among the most affected groups by the economic crisis due to the decline in your salaries and the reduction of healthcare services, which are your rights and those of your families, in exchange for the increasing duties assigned to you amid the growing crises, they know deep down that you are ready for any sacrifice for them, as they have come to know you."
He added: "Keep a watchful eye on your country, for your strength lies in your discipline, integrity, and adherence to the laws governing your work, as well as drawing inspiration from the heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives for their country and mother institution."
Osman noted that "in addition to learning lessons from the history of this institution, we experience daily interactions with security by recording continuous security achievements, such as uncovering terrorist and espionage networks and arresting their members, combating cybercrime, pursuing those wanted for crimes of assault and theft, and arresting them, and confronting drug trafficking that threatens our youth, while apprehending those involved in it. This provides reassurance that this institution remains capable of fulfilling its role in terms of security, reflecting your awareness, your sense of nationalism, and your concern for your country and people whom you regard as your own family."
He concluded by saying: "An individual may not be able to effect change alone, but surely when we all unite, maintain discipline in a single line, and withstand difficulties, we can overcome all tribulations, surpass all obstacles, and propel our institution toward development and improvement."
