Return: Our Hope is that the Deputies Respect the Constitution

The Metropolitan of Beirut and its surroundings for the Greek Orthodox, Bishop Elias Audi, presided over the Divine Liturgy at St. George's Cathedral, with a large attendance of believers. After the Gospel, he delivered a sermon in which he said: "In the church, there are constants from which every believer derives. In nations, there are constitutions that are the foundations upon which homelands are built. The constitution of the country is the highest law that regulates the work of authorities in the state, and it serves as guidance for every official, ruler, deputy, and worker in the service of the homeland. Respecting it is a duty, and its implementation is mandatory. Just as the Church Fathers opposed heresies, the parliament must be the stronghold against any heresy that some may attempt to spread or promote. We hope that everyone respects the Constitution of Lebanon, especially the representatives of the people, so that they may apply its texts and the people can be relieved from psychological and living pressures and enjoy a bit of stability."
