Swedish Foreign Minister Tobias Billström announced the suspension of operations at the Swedish embassy in Beirut and urged embassy staff to leave for Cyprus. Billström told Swedish television channel "TV4" on Saturday: "The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has instructed its employees to leave Beirut and proceed to Cyprus. The Ministry plans to temporarily relocate the embassy." Earlier, Billström urged Swedish citizens to "leave Lebanon due to the escalating conflict in the Middle East" and advised them to "avoid traveling to Lebanon."
