South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol traveled to Paris today, Monday, to garner support for his country's bid to host Expo 2030. The visit is part of an overseas tour that will also include meetings with the presidents of France and Vietnam. Yoon will deliver a speech at the General Assembly of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), the organization responsible for Expo 2030, to promote South Korea's efforts to host the event. The city of Busan in southeastern South Korea faces competition from Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia; Rome, the capital of Italy; and Odessa, Ukraine, for the opportunity to host the global event. The host country for Expo 2030 is expected to be chosen in November. Yoon is scheduled to meet with French President Emmanuel Macron tomorrow, Tuesday. According to Yoon's office, he will then travel to Vietnam on Thursday for a three-day official visit, accompanied by a business delegation of 205 members.
