Kuwait Issues Ruling Against

The Kuwaiti Court of Appeals has sentenced a fictitious employee of the Amiri Diwan to 5 years in prison and fined him 263,000 dinars for defrauding a citizen. The Kuwaiti newspaper "Al-Rai" reported that the accused, whom the victim met through social media, claimed to work for an official entity and made false promises, primarily regarding marriage. The defendant deceived the victim into providing him with money, leading her to believe he could secure a house and chalet as gifts from the Amiri Diwan, and he spent the stolen amount on extravagant parties outside Kuwait. The court also decided to confiscate the money related to the crime while preserving the rights of the victim.
