Dr. Nazier Ayad, the Grand Mufti of Egypt, responded to a question regarding the film "The Atheist," stating: "There is a film that was supposed to be released but faced some controversy, which is 'The Atheist.' The issue of atheism always stirs significant debate. Is there a plan to discuss the atheist, or to implement the punishment for apostasy and admonish the atheist? Which approach will we adopt?"
Dr. Nazier Ayad continued: "This film is subject to evaluation and judgment by relevant regulatory bodies. As for the phenomenon of atheism in general, I believe that we in the religious institution are clearly and methodically addressing it through various roles, whether by Al-Azhar, the Fatwa Office, the Endowments, or others. Because this issue affects national security and the preservation of the identity of the nation and its citizens, I believe there are ongoing efforts in this area, including scientific publications, intellectual meetings, online campaigns, and public gatherings."
Dr. Nazier Ayad added: "I recall that the Egyptian Fatwa House, which I have had the honor of being associated with for a short time, has some scientific and technological units working to counter this ideology in accordance with the realities of the modern era and its tools and mechanisms, without extremism or laxity."
