The wife of the son of Hamas political bureau chief Ismail Haniya appeared in a recorded video mourning him after his assassination early Wednesday in Tehran. During the footage, Enas Haniya said, "With hearts content with God's decree and predestination, I mourn a man whose good memory echoes on earth and in the heavens, a man known to all. I mourn my uncle, my beloved, my father, the crown of my head, and the joy of my eyes, uncle Abu al-Abd Haniya, who has joined the ranks of the truthful and honorable fighters with this noble blood."
She added, "The great martyr, the heroic leader, we say nothing but what pleases God. The eye weeps, and the heart grieves, and we are surely saddened by your departure, O Abu al-Abd, our father. Indeed, we belong to God and to Him we shall return. O Allah, grant us patience in our calamity; the loss is great, but our solace is that this world is fleeting, and we will meet, God willing, in a paradise whose width is that of the heavens and the earth. Farewell, O Leader of the Nation."
