Timour Jumblatt: Beware of Continuing the Existing Paralysis Atmosphere

Timour Jumblatt, head of the Progressive Socialist Party and a parliamentary deputy, warned against "the consequences of continuing the prevailing atmosphere of paralysis and the blockage of political dialogue, boycotting legislative sessions, and creating numerous obstacles amidst crises burdened with political, presidential, financial, and social ramifications." In a statement during his Saturday receptions at the Mukhayyar Palace, Jumblatt emphasized that "it is necessary to stop settling political scores at the expense of the nation, to rein in the ongoing collapse, and to start agreeing on managing our internal crisis properly, and to discuss objective approaches to produce the awaited solutions, especially regarding the presidency and other political issues, as well as addressing economic and social matters. Each of us has a political position that must consider the citizen's interest and suffering." Jumblatt reiterated his call to "end the prolonged vacancy in the military council, particularly the position of Chief of Staff, who alone is entitled under the Defense Law to assume the powers of the Army Commander in case of a vacancy."
