Arrest of Drug Dealer Between Ouzai and Damour

The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division issued the following statement: "As part of the continuous follow-up carried out by the Internal Security Forces to combat drug trafficking and distribution operations in various Lebanese regions, information was received about an unknown individual distributing and promoting drugs along the route extending from Ouzai to Damour. Consequently, the specialized units began their field and investigative procedures to uncover the identity of the dealer and arrest him. As a result of the investigations and inquiries, the Information Branch was able to identify him as A.M. (born in 1993, Lebanese) who has previous convictions for drug-related crimes.

On June 4, 2024, following careful surveillance, one of the branch's patrols managed to arrest him in the act in the Ouzai area while he was distributing drugs from a white "Kia" vehicle, which was seized. During the arrest, he attempted to escape and resisted the officers, but they managed to subdue and apprehend him. During the search of him and the vehicle, the following was confiscated: a military-grade pistol with a magazine and ten usable rounds; 16 bags containing marijuana weighing approximately 420 grams; 4 envelopes containing hashish weighing approximately 84 grams; 10 envelopes containing cocaine marked with 1 gram net weight, each envelope weighing about 3.5 grams; 34 envelopes containing cocaine marked with half a gram foreign, each envelope weighing about 2.7 grams; 65 envelopes containing cocaine marked with half a gram extra, each envelope weighing about 2.7 grams; and 47 envelopes containing cocaine marked with half a gram net extra, each envelope weighing about 2.6 grams, along with a sum of money and two mobile phones.

During the investigation, he confessed to the charges of distributing and promoting drugs using the seized vehicle in the areas of Ouzai, Hazmieh, Haret Hreik, Shweifat, Khaldeh, Naemeh, and Damour, and also admitted to using drugs. The legal measures were taken against him, and he was transferred along with the confiscated items to the relevant judicial authority."
