The Ministry of Finance issued a statement saying: "Once again, the Ministry of Finance clarifies that what it received from the company 'Alvarez & Marsal' is merely a preliminary draft of the report being prepared to audit the accounts of the Central Bank, and it is not the comprehensive and final report. Additionally, the role of the Ministry of Finance in this matter is that of a facilitator between the bank and the company, in accordance with the terms of the contract, to provide the data needed for the report."
The ministry indicated that "upon receiving the final report, it will submit it to the Council of Ministers, which has the authority to act on its content." It confirmed that "Finance Minister Youssef Khalil has prepared response letters to the honorable deputies who requested him to deliver or publish the report, explaining the procedures that govern dealing with this matter."
The ministry considered that "the information being circulated about individuals or details attributed to the report is inaccurate and serves only to create confusion."
