Today, "Haj Sadiq," an intelligence official of the Iranian Quds Force in Syria, was assassinated in Damascus. Sadiq was among the Iranian prisoners held by the "Nusra Front" at the beginning of the Syrian crisis and was eventually released along with other detainees through Qatari mediation.
He is known as Haj Sadiq and is recognized among Iranian advisory forces, holding a highly sensitive position to the extent that American media have attempted multiple times to prepare reports about him but have failed. Recently, the Washington Post published a report on Haj Sadiq’s advisory activities in June of this year. According to the report, Sardar Sadiq Omidzadeh is the planner and responsible for operations targeting American forces in Syria.
According to leaked confidential documents, Omidzadeh is also responsible for arming Syrian factions in preparation for what the report describes as a new phase of operations in Syria. The report stated that Iran and its allies were training Syrian forces to use advanced roadside bombs to target American military vehicles and kill their troops. It mentioned that Quds Force officials assisted in designing the bombs and provided operational consultations for them.
In this document, Sadiq Omidzadeh was named as one of the Quds Force officials who identified "Hummvee armored vehicles and American Cougar vehicles in Syria" as targets. The report also discussed Omidzadeh's recruitment of unidentified operatives for the purpose of capturing espionage photographs of the routes used by American forces.
