OpenAI Develops a New Approach to Artificial Intelligence

Media reports have revealed that "OpenAI, the company behind the virtual assistant ChatGPT, is secretly working on a new approach to its artificial intelligence technology." In an article published on Friday, it was stated that "the company, led by Sam Altman, is developing a new thinking technique for what is known as 'large language models' (LLM), which is a type of language model characterized by its ability to understand and generate language for general purposes, codenamed 'Strawberry'." Through this project, supported by "Microsoft," the company aims to significantly improve the reasoning abilities of its models.

An insider revealed that the way the "Strawberry" model operates is "highly confidential," even within OpenAI itself. The source indicated that the project involves a "specialized method" of processing the AI model after it has been pre-trained on extensive datasets. The goal of the model is to enable the AI not only to generate answers to queries but to plan ahead sufficiently to conduct what is termed "deep search," by independently and reliably navigating the internet.

However, media outlets noted that they were unable to determine when the technology will be available to the public. The source described the project as "a work in progress." A spokesperson for OpenAI stated, "We want our AI models to see and understand the world as humans do. Ongoing research into new AI capabilities is common practice in the industry, with a shared belief that these systems will improve in reasoning over time." The spokesperson did not directly address the Strawberry model in their response.

According to the report, current AI-powered large language models are capable of summarizing vast amounts of text and assembling coherent texts faster than individuals, but they often struggle to provide intuitively logical solutions for humans. When this occurs, they frequently attempt to present false or misleading information as facts.
