Trends Center to Participate in COP28

The "Trends" Center for Research and Consultations will participate in the events of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change "COP28", which starts next Thursday and continues until December 12, 2023, in Expo City Dubai, with a range of events, activities, and publications related to the environment, climate, and sustainability.

Mohammed Abdullah Al Ali, CEO of the Trends Center for Research and Consultations, stated that "Trends," which won the "UAE Award for Excellence in the Labor Market 2023", keeps pace with the global climate summit's work and supports efforts to ensure its success, making a qualitative shift in addressing climate challenges, in addition to providing green knowledge related to climate and its issues.

He noted that "Trends" will participate in the conference through a special pavilion that will showcase several of its research publications, particularly those related to climate and sustainability issues. The center will also take part in a special and innovative event that enhances environmental awareness and connects art and the environment.

Al Ali highlighted that the center's activities at "COP28" are diverse and numerous, with key events including the third annual conference of the Trends Center in collaboration with the Atlantic Council in Washington on "Sustainable Security: The Material and Moral Impacts of Climate Action". There will also be a conference in collaboration with the Atlantic Council - Turkey titled "Prospects for Cooperation in Energy Transition for a Sustainable Future: Perspectives from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and Turkey and other regional countries."

He added that "Trends" will contribute, in collaboration with the Red Crescent and Police Academy, with working papers on sustainability and innovation. Additionally, it will organize a seminar titled "Youth Climate Action as a Catalyst for Climate Action" and another seminar on water security under the conditions of climate change in the UAE, among other seminars focused on topics of industry and future building, climate justice, and climate financing. He indicated that the center will launch two books by a group of global experts during "COP28".

Al Ali mentioned the participation of several young national researchers in managing a number of sessions at the global climate summit, explaining that "Trends" participation in "COP28" focuses on several key areas, most prominently scientific research, empowering youth, and enhancing partnership and research cooperation with local, regional, and international stakeholders to promote common goals.

For her part, Somaya Al-Hadhami, Deputy President of the Trends Global Sector and Chair of the Trends Committee at "COP28", stated that the center focuses on youth empowerment, enhancing global participation, and ensuring that all parties have the necessary resources to combat climate change. She pointed out that the center would, in addition to its activities and events, publish a podcast series focusing on climate, environmental, and sustainability issues.

Furthermore, Alia Al-Junaibi, Head of the Partnerships Department at "Trends," stated that "COP28" represents an important opportunity to build new research partnerships, as many global entities are participating.
