Netflix has announced the adaptation of the popular series "Peaky Blinders" into a film, starring Oscar-winning Irish actor Cillian Murphy. Murphy, who will also produce the film, stated, "This film is dedicated to the fans, and I am delighted to collaborate once again with writer Steven Knight and director Tom Harper on the cinematic version of Peaky Blinders." The successful drama aired by the BBC ran for six seasons from 2013 to 2022, depicting the lives of gangsters in Birmingham in the early 20th century. Director Tom Harper mentioned, "When I directed the series for the first time over 10 years ago, we had no idea what the series would become, but we knew there was something special in the chemistry of the cast and writing."
Netflix officially greenlit the ‘PEAKY BLINDERS’ movie. Cillian Murphy will star in and executive produce the film, with Tom Harper directing and Steven Knight writing the script. Filming begins later this year.
Netflix posted on its official account on the platform X, sharing a photo of the film's script, with a teaser quote from Cillian Murphy, who plays "Thomas Shelby" in the series, stating, "Tommy Shelby is back, the Peaky Blinders movie starring Cillian Murphy is coming to Netflix." Peaky Blinders is a British crime drama that first aired on BBC Two on September 12, 2013.
