Drone Strike Targets Vehicle of Iranian-affiliated Militias, Killing 5 Near Al-Bukamal

Five members of Iranian-affiliated militias were killed and others were injured, some critically, as a result of an unidentified drone targeting a military vehicle they were traveling in between the villages of Al-Kashmah and Al-Dweer in eastern Deir ez-Zor countryside near the Syrian-Iraqi border. This attack comes less than 48 hours after an armed drone targeted the "Kharab al-Jir" U.S. military base in the Hasakah countryside, hitting the base directly. At that time, U.S. forces failed to intercept the drone, which was launched from inside Iraqi territory, marking the first direct attack on U.S. military bases in Syria in several months.
