Kuwaiti Journalist Appeals for the Return of Her "Kidnapped" Daughter from Her Lebanese Ex-Husband

Kuwaiti Journalist Appeals for the Return of Her

Kuwaiti journalist Nadia Ahmad has shared details about the "kidnapping" of her daughter and her ongoing struggle with her husband, demanding urgent action to retrieve her.

In a heartfelt post on Instagram, Nadia Ahmad released a video of the "kidnapping," stating, "On December 21 of last year, my struggle began, and the suffering of my daughter started when I had to travel to Kuwait for only 48 hours to check on my father's health, who was in intensive care. My daughter was taken from her home, where she grew up, and was moved to a new house with a nanny she didn't know. Her father prevented me from seeing her, and I was deprived of seeing her for 35 days while she was deprived of me. She was only two years old at the time. Despite obtaining a temporary custody ruling, I spent a long time going between police stations and courts until I managed to get my daughter back, thanks to a diligent judge who insisted on upholding the law, despite the pressures I faced."

She continued, "On the second occasion, her father stormed the play center where my daughter was, in a manner similar to an attempted kidnapping, and snatched my child from her grandmother's arms, fleeing with her, and I was deprived of her again for over a month. Each time I got my daughter back, it was clear she had been neglected in her care. She returned to me with separation anxiety to the extent that she would cling to me and refuse to leave my side, even following me to the bathroom. After being used to sleeping in a separate bed, she became afraid to sleep alone and insisted on sleeping in my arms."

Nadia Ahmad added, "On July 6, I obtained permanent custody of my daughter through a ruling from the Jaafari Sharia court. Since I had no intention of preventing her father from seeing her, I kindly handed her over to him on July 10 with the agreement that he would return her after a few hours that same day. However, Roma has not returned to me until this moment, despite my legal and civil right to custody."

She stated, "I am still striving to enforce the ruling, and every day that passes away from my daughter is a double shock for her. How can she feel safe after I promised her she'd be back in a few hours and she hasn't returned for 11 days now? Each passing day increases my worry, sorrow, and pain for my daughter."

She continued, "I loved Lebanon with all my heart and worked in public affairs for the country I grew up loving. Today, I stand helpless after doing everything possible daily to enforce the ruling, traveling between Batroun and Tripoli to recover my child, who no longer has a stable home due to her continuous kidnapping. How can the Lebanese judiciary accept this transgression by a person who mocked the court's ruling and continues to challenge it? How can they accept this daily terrorism that my daughter and I are subjected to?"

In conclusion, she stated, "I witness Lebanon and Kuwait to what is happening to me; the embassy is aware, and all relevant judicial and police authorities are informed of the details of the injustice, violence, and blackmail I faced and continue to face. The father of my daughter uses her to blackmail me, and to this day, I have not seen my daughter for 12 consecutive days."

In statements to the newspaper "Al-Rai," journalist Nadia Ahmad urged concerned authorities for immediate action to return her daughter from her "kidnapper," her daughter's father, indicating that they have officially separated and she has obtained a final court ruling granting her custody, but he forcefully took her from her.
