After circulating information about the daughter of Kuwaiti journalist Nadia Ahmad being abducted by her father in Beirut, prompting immediate action for her recovery, the General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division issued the following statement: "Social media circulated news regarding Mrs. (N. Q.) being prevented from seeing her daughter due to a custody dispute with her husband (A. F.), with insinuations about the involvement of elements from the Batroun police station in the child's alleged abduction."
The statement continued, "Therefore, the General Directorate of Internal Security Forces wants to confirm the total inaccuracy of this information and clarify the following: the husband obtained a court custody order for his daughter, who is two years old, on March 8, 2023."
It noted that, "On July 10, 2023, the mother informed the father that she had obtained a custody order in her favor from another Jaafari court, at which point the father took his daughter from the mother's home. On July 11, 2023, the mother filed a complaint against him at the Bhamdoun station for kidnapping, and did not wait for the investigation results before filing another complaint on the same issue at the Batroun station, where he resides, on July 21. The father’s statement was taken on the same date, and the next day he brought the child to the station, following a judicial order."
It revealed, "As a result of the investigation, and with the existence of two court orders from different Jaafari courts, the first in favor of the father and the second in favor of the mother, upon reviewing with the competent judiciary, it was indicated that the girl should remain with her father (since he has a previous custody order) until further procedures are completed and the matter is resolved in the Sharia courts."
The statement added that "the child was with her father, and left the police station with him, without coercion and did not scream or cry, as some social media mentioned. Notably, the police station requested to allow the mother to see her daughter for one hour. After the father's approval, the mother left the police station without this occurring."
The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces confirmed that "these humanitarian issues are among the most sensitive and delicate matters, but they are obligated to address them. Their personnel do not act autonomously but implement judicial directives without selectivity. This General Directorate urges everyone not to circulate any news before verifying its accuracy, emphasizing the importance of sourcing information from its origin before publication."
It is worth mentioning that the ex-husband of the Kuwaiti journalist is of Lebanese nationality, and she had posted a video on Instagram discussing the alleged abduction of her daughter.
