Syria: Preparedness in Lattakia Countryside to Extinguish Fires Continuing for 5 Days

Firefighting teams continue their extensive efforts for the fifth consecutive day to control the fires raging in the forests and woodlands in northern Lattakia countryside. The Syrian news agency "SANA" reported that the Ministers of Local Administration and Environment, Hussein Makhlouf, and Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, Mohamed Hassan Qattana, along with Lattakia Governor Amer Helal, are overseeing the firefighting operations on the ground and the actions of the firefighting teams to contain the flames, amid full preparedness and mobilization of the personnel deployed at the work sites.

On the Sukariyeh Torouz front, Minister Makhlouf and Governor Helal inspected the firefighting teams' procedures for containing and extinguishing the fires in this area. Firefighting operations involve teams from the Civil Defense, Agriculture, and firefighting brigades from several governorates, supported by units of the Syrian Arab Army and helicopter aviation. Furthermore, Lattakia Fire Brigade Commander Colonel Mohannad Jafar stated that the firefighting teams managed to prevent the flames from spreading toward the village of Jorat Al-Ma, confirming that there are no damages to agricultural lands or citizens' properties in the village.
