The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division issued the following statement: "On July 21, 2023, a citizen reported that an unknown individual stole his bag while he was at a resort in the Jounieh area. The bag contained approximately $1,000, 9 million Lebanese pounds, 300 euros, a mobile phone, the keys to his car and home, and identity documents. On the same date, after close surveillance, one of the branch's patrols spotted him in the Nissan in the Kaslik area, where they set a trap and arrested him, seizing the vehicle. Upon searching him and the car, the stolen bag was recovered, containing: the stolen phone, the car key belonging to the complainant, and cash comprising $690, 345 euros, 836,000 Lebanese pounds, 600 Syrian pounds, a white chain, a key belonging to the hotel where the complainant was staying, and a mobile phone.

During the investigation, he confessed to the charges against him regarding the theft from the resort in Jounieh and added that after the theft, he headed to the Baabda area and then returned to Jounieh, attempting to locate and steal the complainant’s car since he had the key in his possession.
