Russian Missiles Rain Down on Ukraine in Response to Oil Tanker Attack

Air raid sirens blared for the third time on Saturday, signaling a state of alert for aerial strikes across Ukraine and the capital, Kyiv, amid reports of Russian strikes with "Kalibr" cruise missiles. According to maps from the Ukrainian Ministry of Digital Transformation, a state of alert for air strikes was also announced for the evening in Kyiv and 11 other regions of Ukraine.

Ukrainian Air Force officials reported that "Russia is targeting the capital, Kyiv, with cruise missiles." According to news channels on Telegram, five "Kalibr" cruise missiles are flying toward Vinnytsia region, where logistical centers and fuel storage facilities, as well as several important military sites for Ukrainian forces, including Arsenal 48 in Kalynivka, are located. A warning about the potential launch of "Kinzhal" hypersonic missiles has also been issued.

Today, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova commented on the attack on a Russian civilian vessel in the Kerch Strait, carried out by Ukrainian forces early Saturday, stating that Ukrainian terrorist attacks would not go unpunished. She said, "There can be no justification for such barbaric acts, and they will not go unanswered; their perpetrators will inevitably be punished."

Earlier on Saturday morning, a Russian civilian tanker was attacked by drone boats carried out by Ukrainian forces near the Kerch Strait, with no injuries reported among the crew. The Russian maritime coordination center announced that the tanker sustained damage in the Kerch Strait during the Ukrainian attack. A source told the TASS agency, "We can say that the tanker was damaged in the strait from the south. The crew is fine and was not harmed."

Ukrainian news agency "OANN" reported that a source from the Ukrainian Security Service confirmed Kyiv's intelligence involvement in the drone attack on the Russian oil tanker last night in the Kerch Strait.
