Execution of Saudi Citizen for Drug Trafficking

The Saudi Ministry of Interior issued a statement on Wednesday regarding the implementation of a capital punishment (execution) for one of the perpetrators in the Tabuk region. The statement reads: "Mohammed bin Aziz bin Salamah Al-Huwaiti - a Saudi national - smuggled amphetamine pills into the Kingdom. Thanks to Allah, the security agencies managed to arrest him, and the investigation led to charges against him. He was referred to the court, which issued a ruling confirming his conviction and sentencing him to be executed. The ruling was upheld by the Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court, and a royal decree was issued to enforce what was mandated by Sharia."

The statement continued: "The execution of the sentence against the perpetrator Mohammed bin Aziz bin Salamah Al-Huwaiti was carried out on Wednesday, the 18th of Muharram, 1446 Hijri, corresponding to July 24, 2024, in the Tabuk region." The Ministry of Interior noted: "As it announces this, the government of the Kingdom emphasizes its commitment to combating all types of drugs due to the serious harm they cause to individuals and society, imposing the severest penalties on those who commit such acts, grounded in the principles of Sharia law. It also warns anyone who engages in such actions that they will face the full legal consequences. Allah is the Guide to the Straight Path."
