Message from Sheikh Ahmad Qabalan to Christian Leaders: Our Unity with God and Country is Essential

Sheikh Ahmad Qabalan, the distinguished Ja'fari Mufti, addressed Christian leaders stating, "Because strife is simmering and evils are bubbling over, and since the sanctity of this country is intertwined with the sanctity of its people, communities, defenders, and state project, as well as its civil peace, and because the country is exposed while international agencies play their nefarious games, fueling controlled media, concocting bloodshed, destruction, and division, and pushing towards a catastrophic national explosion, I address national and spiritual Christian leaders to note that there are forces driving the country towards reckless sectarian strife, working against Christian and Islamic interests, wishing to burn the country along with its inhabitants, indifferent to churches or mosques, disbelieving in Christ or Muhammad, with no purpose except for strife, blood, division, barricades, and ruin.

"And because the history of resistance stands for security, sovereignty, and protection, far from Lebanese internal affairs and sectarian interests, and because resistance, through its supply lines, remains intact, and because Ahmad Qassas is one among a series of brothers who protected the church and sacrificed themselves, their spirits, and their wounds, keeping their gaze on Fadi Bujani, with his blood as armor and his heart as a fence, and that the calamity is of the nation, the offering should be the very heart of this country that shares the daggers of the marauders and the horns of discord.

"Recognizing that information traps are very active, and the orchestrators of strife are openly playing their roles, while some media operate precisely, and regional and international entities invest in sectarian fire, believing that salvation from Lebanon lies in its ruin and igniting its components in a prolonged civil war; therefore, our unity with God and the nation is necessary, preventing strife is paramount, ensuring our civil peace is the utmost duty, and protecting Christians begins with protecting Muslims, and vice versa." He emphasized, "Lebanon without resistance is chaos, strife, a graveyard swamp, and occupation, and Lebanon's historical past is unequivocal evidence of that. Resistance is a guarantee for the nation, not for a sect, and undermining it is an assault on the very sovereignty of Lebanon. The only enemy of the resistance is Israel, and its sole function is to protect the entity. The greatest commandments of Christ are truth, fairness, partnership, love, and preventing strife and destruction. National failure is catastrophic, and sectarian division pours oil on the fire, while allowing the horns of discord to burn Lebanon is akin to coronating base instincts."

Qabalan added, "And because the fires of political strife are boiling, we must not fulfill the wishes of the enemies of this country nor engage in its burning and destruction, as what has been happening for years is not coincidental. International agencies have their fingers in every area, and what we seek is to protect our partnership, our national unity, and the security of our country and people while preventing the strife of dens, embassy media, and the malice of blood mercenaries and traitors of the homeland. This requires great effort from Christian and Islamic leaders, and we are only a quiet moment away from the destruction of Lebanon—the silence about strife and its horns. The foundation is to protect Lebanon and prevent the bloodshed of brothers, as what is occurring directly relates to the American project that seeks to destroy Lebanon and ensure the interests of Tel Aviv through division. Therefore, consolidating the national choice and traversing sectarian lines is now an absolute necessity to protect the country from slipping away, and Christian and Islamic leaders bear national, moral, religious, and humanitarian responsibility in this regard. Remaining silent in a critical moment is forbidden."
