Sheikh Sami Abi Al-Muna, the head of the Druze community, affirmed after leading a delegation from the religious council to visit Maronite Patriarch Bechara Rai in Diman, that the moral and social values, as well as the value of family, are a trust we hold as spiritual leaders. He stated that "these values are a responsibility on our shoulders to preserve, alongside the political leaders, and we encourage them to adhere to the constitution, respect the Taif Agreement, and the constitutional deadlines, and to rebuild institutions because we have reached a state that is not enviable. The world is waiting for us, and we are waiting for the world; we must take the initiative rather than just waiting."
He said, "With the Patriarch, it is pleasant to talk about coexistence, reconciliation, and the diversity in unity that binds us in Lebanon and specifically in the Mountain, and we discussed matters that are currently under discussion regarding how to emerge from this crisis with goodwill, kind words, and good actions. Perhaps we lack action because the spirit is undoubtedly good, and the kind words are unquestionable, but we may be lacking joint efforts in all social, cultural, and economic fields to fortify this Mountain and this country."
Additionally, the Patriarch reviewed the preparations for his visit to the Mountain, scheduled for September 8th, on the occasion of the 22nd anniversary of Maronite and Druze reconciliation in the Mountain, and a collection of books related to both the Maronite and Druze communities was exchanged.
