More than 20 Moroccans in the Grip of a Mafia in Mexico

The kidnapping and torture of more than 20 Moroccans have sparked panic in the state of "Mexicali" for several weeks, before the Mexican police managed to raid a house suspected of being connected to the mafia. After receiving a notification from an unknown source about the detention and torture of foreigners, the authorities stormed the site and freed the Moroccan victims held by the gang in an area called "Islas Agrarias," according to local media reports. Investigations revealed that the Moroccans had taken routes through Egypt, Spain, and countries in Latin America to reach the American dream, only to fall into the hands of human trafficking gangs. The detainees told Mexican security officials during the investigations that they had been victims of an organized scam led by a Mexican gang that misled them into believing it could help them enter U.S. territory for a significant fee, only to find out later that it was just a mafia threatening with death. The irregular migrants who were freed two days ago were handed over to the National Immigration Institute in Mexico to address their situation and take legal action. Meanwhile, social media in Morocco has been abuzz recently with a group offering services in human trafficking through "escape routes," to the United States by exploiting land and sea borders.
