"Baalbek-Hermel Bloc": What Happened in Khaala is a Described Crime Aimed at Disrupting the Country's Security

The "Baalbek-Hermel Bloc" held its regular meeting in Baalbek to discuss political updates and developments in the local arena. The head of the bloc, MP Hussein Haj Hassoun, read the statement issued after the meeting, stating that "the Baalbek-Hermel parliamentary bloc condemns the militia attack on a truck at a curve in the town of Khaala, during which its members were subjected to armed assault by militias known for threatening stability and civil peace. This act is a described crime aimed at tampering with the country's security."

He considered this militia act as condemned and unacceptable by all honorable people in this homeland, as it poses a threat and aggressive behavior that serves the projects of sedition. He urged the security and judicial agencies to fulfill their responsibilities to uncover the perpetrators and instigators and bring them to justice. The Baalbek-Hermel parliamentary bloc extended its condolences to the family of the martyr, the slain fighter Ahmed Ali Qassas, congratulating them on this martyrdom and praying for elevated ranks in Paradise for him, while hoping to inspire his family with patience and solace.

He added, "On the seventeenth anniversary of the Israeli aggression against Lebanon, the Baalbek-Hermel parliamentary bloc congratulates all Lebanese on the great victory achieved in 2006 and calls for building on the victories and accomplishments that the resistance has amassed since the liberation in 2000, owing to the sacrifices of our patient and struggling people, and through the equation of the army, the people, and the resistance. The bloc confirms that resistance is the only way to deter Zionist aggression and confront the Zionist-American projects, preventing them from being realized."

He emphasized that "what happened in the Ain al-Hilweh camp in terms of security threats serves the enemies of the Palestinian cause, undermining the unity of its people and draining both the Lebanese and Palestinian arenas. It underscores the need to work towards the unity of all factions in support of their legitimate cause to confront the conspiracies of settlement, Judaization, and normalization."

The bloc viewed that “the moment Lebanon is going through requires all political forces to take a responsible national stance, as Lebanon is still a target for American, Zionist, and takfiri aggression. Therefore, everyone should initiate the treatment of the multiple crises that we all suffer from and move towards national understandings that meet the challenges and aspirations of the Lebanese citizens.”

He added, "While the Baalbek-Hermel parliamentary bloc appreciates the dialogue between Hezbollah and the Free Patriotic Movement, it affirms that it is in everyone's interest to expedite the election of a president for the republic who leads the rescue process in Lebanon and preserves national unity and the elements of Lebanon's strength and the achievements that have been made."
