A senior Russian official in the Donetsk region announced that "a series of Ukrainian attacks today resulted in at least seven people being injured and ignited a fire at a shopping center in the city controlled by Russia in eastern Ukraine." Denis Pushilin, the Russia-appointed governor, stated on Telegram, "Since 12 PM today, the enemy has carried out intense targeted strikes on the Petrovsky area of the regional capital." He added, "According to preliminary information, seven civilians were injured, including a boy." Pushilin did not report any fatalities. Earlier, the TASS news agency cited local authorities as saying that at least two people were killed in the shopping center shelling, but there was no confirmation. Pushilin stated that the "Galaktika" shopping center caught fire over an area of more than 10,000 square meters as a result of the attack, and authorities are still working to extinguish the fire. He also noted that part of a local hospital was damaged. The official Russian news agency released a video showing massive plumes of smoke rising from what it said was the shopping center.
