The Fishers' Syndicate in the Khizrān Coast has urged the deputies of the Zahrani district and other coastal districts, as well as the Ministries of Interior and Agriculture, the army leadership, and all security agencies, to "put an end to the chaos in marine fishing and the illegal use of dynamite, which causes massacres to the fish wealth, which has diminished to the point of being nearly nonexistent, due to the greed and ignorance of a few fishermen who use explosives in fishing."
In a statement, they said: "Marine fishing should contribute to enhancing the local food basket, as we are a coastal country blessed with an abundance of fish, just like all Mediterranean countries, and at acceptable prices for consumers. Unfortunately, due to the chaos in the fishing process and the deliberate or undeliberate neglect in enforcing the laws, we have become an importing country of fish from neighboring countries, with which we share the same sea, while both the fisher and the citizen are victims."
They concluded: "We reiterate our appeal to all concerned parties, led by the deputies, ministries, and relevant agencies, to enforce the rule of law against the few that are tampering with food security. We consider this appeal a notification for the judicial authorities to take action and put an end to what is happening."
