The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division announced in a statement that "as part of the continuous monitoring carried out by the Internal Security Forces to limit crimes in various Lebanese areas, and after recent incidents of armed robbery committed by unknown individuals in a vehicle described as (B.M) with other specifications unknown, by impersonating security personnel, targeting truck drivers in the towns of Bhammoun and Souf, and robbing them of what they had in their possession. Immediately, the specialized units initiated field and investigative procedures to uncover the perpetrators and arrest them. As a result of intensive investigation and inquiries, the Information Branch was able to identify the mastermind behind these operations, known as: - T.A.K. (born in 2002, Lebanese). On 6-8-2024, after careful surveillance, one of the patrols from the branch managed to arrest him in a tight ambush in the town of Souf, in the mentioned vehicle, which was seized. During a search of his house located in a nearby town, a military pistol, used in robbery operations along with a magazine and 8 live rounds were found. During the investigation, he confessed to the charges against him regarding his involvement, along with another individual, in carrying out multiple armed robberies by impersonating security personnel, as they would, after midnight, intercept trucks in the vicinity of Bhammoun and rob their drivers. The vehicle was legally retained, and the necessary legal action was taken against the arrested individual. He and the seized items were referred to the competent authority, based on judicial instructions, and efforts are ongoing to arrest his accomplice."
