The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division issued a statement today, Wednesday, stating: "As part of the plan developed by the Judicial Police Unit to combat drugs, pursue those involved in drug trafficking, and arrest them, the special group in the mentioned unit monitored drug promotion and distribution activities by a dealer in the Basta area of Beirut." Consequently, the unit intensified its intelligence efforts in the area and managed to identify the suspect, referred to as J.M. (born in 1964, Lebanese).
On 15/08/2023, after monitoring and tracking, he was arrested in the Ain al-Mrayse area while driving a Mercedes vehicle, where three pieces of hashish were found in its trunk. The statement added: "Upon searching his home in the Basta area, a quantity of one kilogram of hashish, rolling paper, a sensitive scale, plastic bags, and tools used for packaging drugs were seized."
The arrested individual and the seized items were referred to the Central Drug Control Office for further investigation and legal proceedings against him, based on the directions of the competent judiciary.
