The match between the Moroccan and Spanish Olympic teams in the semifinals of the football tournament at the Paris Olympics witnessed an exceptional event this Monday evening. Uzbek referee Algez Tatashiv had to leave the field about ten minutes after the start of the match due to an injury sustained from an accidental collision with a Spanish player, which resulted in an ankle injury. Despite the Moroccan medical team’s intervention to assist Tatashiv, he was unable to continue the match and requested a substitution. Indeed, he was replaced by the fourth official, Swedish referee Glenn Nyberg. The first half of the match ended with Morocco leading Spain 1-0, with the goal scored by striker Sofiane Rahimi from a penalty kick in the 37th minute.
