Al-Ittihad of Saudi Arabia may abandon the idea of signing Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson Moraes during the current summer transfer window, according to a news report. Ederson, 30, had informed his club’s management of his desire to experience the Saudi league. However, financial obstacles are hindering the deal, as the English club has requested €50 million (£42 million) to complete it. According to ESPN, City is adamant about its demand for Ederson, stating that it will only consider offers that exceed £40 million.
On the other hand, the Al-Ittihad management believes that the amounts requested by Manchester City are excessively high and has repeatedly tried to reduce them, but their efforts have been met with refusal. This might lead the "Tiger" club to abandon the deal to save some funds to strengthen the team with other players.
So far, Al-Ittihad has finalized three notable signings in the current transfer window: Algerian Houssem Aouar, French Moussa Diaby, and Saudi Saleh Al-Shehri. The most critical position for Al-Ittihad at the moment remains the goalkeeper role, following the departure of Brazilian Marcelo Grohe and the failure of Abdullah Al-Maiouf to fill the gap last season.
