Palestinian sources told "Nidaa al-Watan" that the proposed scenario in the Ain al-Hilweh camp today, a month after the clashes between "Fatah" and Islamist activists, is to neutralize all areas of the camp from any tensions, limiting the problem to the Tawari and Taamir areas where the perpetrators of the assassination of General Abu Ashraf al-Armooshi and his companions are entrenched. The movement continues to impose its military blockade while awaiting a meeting of the "Joint Palestinian Action Committee" in Lebanon to make the appropriate decision regarding them.
According to the scenario, the accelerated bilateral and collective Palestinian meetings in recent days have reached a preliminary consensus not to call for a meeting of the action committee before agreeing on specific understandings to ensure the camp's security and stability after several proposals are being studied on how to deal with the perpetrators, including enhancing the joint force and replenishing it with elements from various factions to execute any decision.
While sources confirm that "Fatah" will not back down from its insistence on bringing the perpetrators to justice by force and prefers that it be done through the joint force in implementation of the committee's decisions, which represent the unified political leadership, others believe that the matter requires more patience, study, and consultation due to political obstacles related to the Lebanese reality and its crisis, as well as the rejection of any new battle.
On the ground, reflecting the first part of the scenario, "Fatah" removed a bunker near Hassan al-Shaib's shop in the "Red Head" neighborhood on the upper street, alongside tents nearby in the Safsaf area, as a goodwill gesture and a translation of the understanding with the Islamic powers during a meeting held at the home of leader Munir al-Maqdah, where they pledged to neutralize the Safsaf area from any gunfire directed at "Fatah," which left residents of the area relieved in preparation for a return to normalcy and the reopening of shops and businesses.
Conversely, "Fatah" decided to maintain its military blockade imposed on the Tawari and Taamir areas in the northern part of the camp, concerning bunkers and tents and closing the roads leading to them, extending from the camp entrance to the martyr Huda Shaalan's garden, including the Bustan al-Quds neighborhood and entrances to UNRWA schools, to exert more pressure on the perpetrators until the "Joint Action Committee" holds its meeting to make the appropriate decision.
Politically, factions of the "Palestine Liberation Organization" in Lebanon held a meeting at the Trade Unions and Popular Federations headquarters in Sidon, chaired by its Secretary General Fathi Abu Al-Ardat, to discuss the security situation in the camp in light of the political movement and the holding of bilateral and collective meetings to formulate a unified stance towards the perpetrators and their handover.
According to participants, Abu Al-Ardat briefed the attendees on the two meetings held between "Fatah" and "Hamas" at the Palestinian embassy in Beirut, as revealed by "Nidaa al-Watan," and between "Fatah" and the Islamic forces in Ain al-Hilweh, and the agreements reached. The security situation in the camp was also discussed by the acting General Director of General Security, Major General Elias Al-Baysari, with the Secretary General of the Popular Front – General Command Talal Naji, who visited him with a leadership delegation at the General Directorate in Beirut.
