Palestinian Youth Killed in Clash between Security Forces and Gunmen in the West Bank

A Palestinian youth was killed in a rare clash between Palestinian security forces and gunmen in the town of Tulkarm in the West Bank, following the arrival of Palestinian Authority security personnel to open roads leading to a refugee camp that had been closed by gunmen in anticipation of Israeli incursions. The Palestinian Authority stated that residents complained that the roadblocks posed a danger to pedestrians and a nearby school. The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), which governs the besieged Gaza Strip, condemned the killing in Tulkarm, emphasizing the need to hold those involved in this crime accountable to preserve civil peace and social fabric and to maintain unity among the people against occupation. Meanwhile, others from the camp viewed the incident as indicating assistance to the occupation forces in arresting and assassinating those wanted for security reasons, asserting that security forces would not be allowed to enter the camp.

On the other hand, the official spokesperson for the security institution, Major General Talal Dweikat, stated that gunmen opened fire in front of the Tulkarm Governorate building, prompting the intervention of security forces to take necessary measures to restore security and prevent any threats to civil peace in Tulkarm. The Palestinian news agency (WAFA) reported that the security agencies opened an investigation into the circumstances of the incident and requested an autopsy for the body. Palestinian human rights activists called for an independent investigation.

In a separate incident, the Israeli police reported that a boy suspected of carrying out a stabbing attack in Jerusalem was killed by gunfire.
