The "Arab Banks Union" welcomed in a statement the participation of the acting Governor of the Central Bank of Lebanon, Wassim Mansouri, in its annual banking conference held in Riyadh, titled: "Arab Economic Prospects in Light of International Changes," at the Hilton Hotel - Riyadh, under the patronage and attendance of the Saudi Central Bank Governor, Ayman bin Mohammed al-Sayyari, as well as economic and financial decision-makers, governors of Arab central banks, heads of Arab and international financial institutions, and members of the board of directors of the Arab Banks Union, alongside Saudi bank owners and Saudi media.

The statement indicated that this conference comes within the framework of its ongoing efforts to assist all countries, in addition to supporting the Lebanese Central Bank and the Lebanese banking sector. It clarified the commitment of the Union to assist the Central Bank of Lebanon, under its new management, by placing all its relations and capabilities at its disposal to succeed in its tasks of rescuing the monetary situation in Lebanon.

The conference was noted to serve as an Arab-international platform to discuss international economic transformations, the risks of slowing global economic growth, and the role of financial regulations in improving financial stability.

The Arab Banks Union explained that its approach is based on technical, scientific, and objective opinions completely detached from political rivalries, just as it approaches issues facing all Arab countries, stemming from its concern for maintaining Lebanon as an active state among Arab nations, preserving its historical position and its active role as a reservoir of expertise and competencies in all areas, through maintaining financial and monetary stability, protecting depositors' rights, and returning Lebanon to play its natural role in the region and the world as a leader in Arab and global banking.

It was announced that the Union, through its board of directors and general secretariat, will present a commemorative plaque to the Governor of the Saudi Central Bank, in appreciation for his sponsorship of the conference activities.

The statement mentioned that the Secretary-General of the Arab Banks Union, Dr. Wissam Fattouh, coordinated the communication between Mansouri and banking leaders in the Kingdom, led by the Governor of the Saudi Central Bank. It also noted that Mansouri's meetings with the Saudi Central Bank Governor and banking leaders in Saudi Arabia were characterized by positivity and an agreement on cooperation and Saudi support for the Lebanese Central Bank and the Lebanese banking sector for the benefit of Lebanon and the Lebanese people.
