The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division issued a statement today, Saturday, stating: "In the context of the daily monitoring conducted by the Internal Security Forces to combat theft operations in various areas, specialized units intensified their patrols in areas where these operations are prevalent. A gang was observed committing motorcycle thefts from areas along the Ibrahim River road, in addition to executing break-ins into houses through climbing. The Information Branch immediately initiated field and intelligence procedures to identify the members of the gang and arrest them. As a result of investigations and inquiries, their identities were determined, including the mastermind of the gang, named K. A. (born in 1995, Syrian), who has a criminal record for theft cases and is wanted by the judiciary based on judicial warrants for life imprisonment with hard labor. On December 5, 2023, after a thorough monitoring process, one of the branch's patrols successfully arrested him in an ambush in the Sabra area. During the investigation, he confessed to the charges against him regarding his participation with others in executing multiple motorcycle thefts in areas along the Ibrahim River road. He also confessed to stealing money and mobile phones from a house in the Zalkhamiya-Halat area, entering through climbing while the owners were sleeping, in addition to several failed attempts to steal with others in a similar manner, as well as drug use. Legal action was taken against him, and he was referred to the competent authority based on judicial instructions, with efforts ongoing to apprehend the remaining members."
